News in and around Santa Barbara's Mission Canyon

Dear Valued Community Members,

On October 14th and 15th, 2022, The Santa Barbara County Fire Safe Council is pleased to announce our second ever Wildfire Preparedness Exposition. The event will be at Direct Relief, 6100 Wallace Becknell Rd, Goleta, CA. The two-day family-friendly exhibition will be filled with loads of hands-on experiences, activities, and speakers, all picked with the goal of educating attendees on living in wildfire threatened communities.

Friday the 14th, consists of a presentation from keynote speaker Professor Park Williams, and a reception with food and drinks. On Saturday the 15th, there will be many family-friendly activities, and booths from over a dozen organizations so residents can get tailored information about how to prepare for the next wildfire. Additionally, there will be an informative panel titled, “A Multi-Disciplinary Perspective of Wildfire Preparedness,” hosted by District Supervisor Joan Hartmann. This panel will consist of County Fire Marshall Rob Hazard, Director of the planning and development department Lisa Plowman, a member of the Sheriff’s Department, and more. Following this presentation, there will be an opportunity to submit questions for a Q&A session.

Please see the attached flyers, or check our website for more information on both days of the event.

We look forward to seeing you there, and please stay safe.
Sincerely,

The Santa Barbara County Fire Safe Council
