The bridge/trail will be closed for 2 weeks, starting Monday August 22nd.
The City has awarded a construction contract to replace the wooden portion of the Tunnel Trail Bridge deck. The project involves removing the damaged wooden deck and replacing it with a new timber deck to match the existing layout, during this time the bridge/trail will be closed to through travel. The City has contracted with CGS Engineering, the contractor who performed work this last spring/summer at our water facilities in the area. CGS will be starting the construction on Monday August 22nd and have 14 calendar days to complete the project. The work will hopefully be complete and bridge passable prior to the Labor Day weekend. Wood delivery etc has been confirmed.
Message Boards warning of the pending trail closure will be put out today, on Monday 8/8, to provide a two week advanced notice to the public. They will be located in the same places as the ones that were placed for our recent work on our water facilities in the trail area.
